Question: for the past two months or so i've noticed a small hard lump above my left temple. i went to a cityCD about 4 weeks ago and they said it was nothing to worry about, but im still concerned. i have no headaches, night sweats 0r fever. it used to feel like a hard vein going horizontally across a small section above my temlp about 1 inch above and then i started to rub it a lot and it got bigger almost immediately but has stayed about the same size for the last two months. The doctor I saw said "its nothing serious to worry about most likely a cyst or lipoma". Its pretty small its about 1/4 of an inch. I dont belive it has gotten any bigger in the last two months, altought it may have gotten marginally larger but its hard to tell beacuse i keeep rubbing it. In your professional opinion would this seem to be a cause for concern to you? To give you the location its baout 3 inches from the top of my ear about about 2.5 inches to the left. the lump feels hard and it not really movable, feels almost like cartilage. its about at the level of my hairline on the left side where the hairline meets the skin. No other noticable lumps anywhere on nect under chin, under armpits or anything else.

Brief Answer:
Please attach a photo of it if thats possible.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Can you please attach a photo of this lump? Without it its really hard to give good advice.
We assume that the lump which is NOT getting bigger in a short period of time (like 3 weeks), does not hurt is generally benign and the risk of cancer is extremely low.
So for sure there is no need to be concerned. It might be cyst indeed. But for 99% it is benign with no potential risk of cancer.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.

Thanks for the response, I would send a picture of the photo, but to be honest its not noticeable unless you feel it under the skin. It's kind of oblong shaped and feels attached to my skull like cartilage. Like i mentioned before it felt like a hard vein and seems to be at the crease of my skull on the left side until i rubbed it and it grew to its current size and has relatively stayed the same size. Is it common for cancers to be that high up on the skull? Also when you say "getting bigger", in your experience, would that increase in growth usually be very noticeable or is it usually subtle to the point where the person couldn't tell whether or not it has even grown at all?

Brief Answer:
This is benign lesion.

Detailed Answer:
Generally any cancer grows constantly. That's the only purpose of the cancer cells. They multiply without any control. So its impossible for any cancer to stop growing just like that.
Cancer would become to the very noticeable size. Sooner or later it would become really large.
