Suggest Remedy For Cold, Fever And Ear Pain In A Child

Question: my son is complaining that his ear hurts. he is 5 years old, 39 lbs. and has never had an issue with ears before. he has been fighting a cold and this past Friday he had a fever . what would be the best way to treat it? I'm not seeing anything draining from the ear.

You son is having ear pain just after having an upper respiratory infection. This makes me concerned that he may have an ear infection. I would recommend that he be seen by a medical provider so they can look in the ear. If he has infection then he will need to be on antibiotics. If he has an ear infection and he does not get treated the ear drum could rupture and he could have permanent hearing loss. I strongly urge that he be seen today.
