Question: Hi My Name Is xxxx. 2 months ago I got my thumb finger smashed with my car door, and I got a little black color nail for blood coagulate, I was thinking to drain the blood with a hot wire, but a friend told me leave like that. And now the complete nail is getting black, and looks dry under it. No pain at all. So I don’t know what to do, I would like to know what is going to happen next with the nail, if the nail is going to fall off alone? I was thinking to visit the walk in clinic to see a Doctor. But I don't want the doctor pull off the nail. Please give an advice, Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Let it fall itself.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern. You need to do nothing. Your black nail will fall itself (let it fall itself). New nail be there after falling of old nail. New nail already growing beneath the old nail. If allowed to fall itself then new nail be smoother. However if there is discharge ( fluid coming out from nail indicating infection) then it is better to get nail removed. You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
