Suggest Remedy For Aspirin Poisoning

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Dec 2015
Question: Last night my 13-year-old son took 2 aspirin for a headache. When his headache didn't go away, probably within an hour or so, he took 2 more aspirin. He did eat dinner, but threw it all up and was miserable all night. His main complaint was (and still is) that he cannot hear very well except for a loud ringing in his ears. Does he have aspirin poisoning?

Brief answer....yes this is aspirin poisioning also called as acute salicylism
Detailed answer...
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query.
Your son has suffered from acute aspirin poisioning and ringing in ears and partial deafness is a side effect of this.
Nausea and vomiting was due to gastritis caused by aspirin.
Most likely this should subside of its own since amount consumed was just 4 tablets, but he should definitely go to ER for a closer look of his condition.
Although more dangerous signs like increased heart beats, uncontrollable rapid breathing, confusion, dizziness are absent,it would be still better to be in hospital to be on safe side.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
