Brief Answer:
Follow the Advises..

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX, Welcome to HCM,

Well it's unfortunate that you've burnt your tongue, yes indeed it's a very painful condition..

To cope with, at first try to take a full closure look at the tongue and describe me how does it look currently, is it fully red ?
any discoloration over the burnt area ?
Any swelling ?
If possible please take a snapshot (without zooming too much) and upload it to me here, if you can't find upload option, you can simply mail the picture to YYYY@YYYY and keep the subject as ATTN: Dr Arnab Banerjee, I'll get them..

Now it's good that you haven't tried any medications so far . By the way can you tell how many days it's been so far ??

To get immediate relief you need to be on bland and cold diet for the time being..

Try to take Ice-cream, yogurt(lots of them , it'll help in healing also), custard, fruits like banana, pears . Also you can simply suck some ice-cubes as it'll soothe the area..

Most importantly avoid hot drinks(like Tea, coffee) which actually hampers the healing, also try not to take any citrus component (any kind of Lemon, Vinegar, tomatoes, tamarind, Sour by any means) for the time being .

Mild to moderate tongue burn usually heals by itself with the above mentioned measures within 10-14 days , so not to worry..

If it's more than that , or any signs of infection like fever, any pus formation then appropriate antibiotic treatment should be started at the earliest as well as a physical check-up(which I don't think is necessary for you at this moment) , so relax....

Take Tab PARACETAMOL 650 mg three times a day after food for next 2-3 days if you feel that the pain's just unbearable ..

Let me know how you stay later on..

Feel free to discuss any further queries..

Take Care..
Regards..

Thanks for helping out Dr XXXXXXX

As of now I don't see any signs of redness or pus on my tongue.

All I see some inflammation on tongue which is completely unnoticeable on a photo- I can feel it when I'm touching it.

But the pain still there while having food.

Once again Thank You

Brief Answer:
Nothing to worry, however routine and timely follow-up to continue..

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXXXXX ,

Your tongue's inflammation will go away within a few days , just follow my advises mentioned in my previous reply..

From your description it seems like a mild burn only, you can feel a bit a of numbness due to pain and swelling of the burn , but it'll go away in a few days only but you have to follow my advises as already mentioned..

Relax, pain will be there for the time being , I've told you what all to be done for that , just follow them specially the diet advises..

Continue Paracetamol for next 2-3 days as I've already mentioned you'll feel relief . Just be vigilant (but not too vigilant) and see the progress.

Keep me updated after following them how it goes..

Take Care..
Regards
