Question: Hi, I'm a 34 year old male and I have had sinus and allergy problems for the past 7 years. Have been to a doc a while ago who prescribed me a course of antihistamines, nasal spray and a cortisone injection. This did not do much My nasal sinuses are constantly inflamed and the area below my eyes are swollen too. Have had allergy tests and the house dust mite allergen was quite severe. Always had itchy throat and eyes from a young age. Can my condition be cured and who do I see to get it under control? This is really affecting my overall health. Please help

Brief Answer:
Start Montelukast and fexofenadine combination.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
In my opinion, you should start combination of anti allergic (montelukast) and anti histamine (fexofenadine) drugs.
Combination is more effective than plain antihistamine.
You should also try omalizumab (monoclonal antibody against IgE) after consulting allergist.
This is best treatment for allergy available at present.
It's dose depends on serum IgE level. Usually total 6-8 months of treatment is required.
Don't worry, you will be alright.
Consult allergist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.

Thank you doc for your reply. I just remembered I was on singulair as well with the antihistamines. This did not help. I do not have the itchy throat and eyes symptoms anymore. This was only when I was younger and happens now very rarely.

The main issue is the inflammation of my nasal passages and the swelling under my eyes.

I have attached another pic showing the swelling.

Do you think a steroid treatment could help and should I see an ENT specialist For this?

Sorry for late reply as I was out whole day.
I have gone through the image you have attached.
Yes, steroid treatment in tapering manner can be tried in your case.
But better to first consult ENT doctor for this and get done clinical and endoscopic examination of nose.
