Hello,

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Muhammad Ahmad. I have read your question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

Here are a few things which you have to consider to evaluate the cause of your lethardy.

1) Anemia, decreased hemoglobin can cause lethargy...for that blood works sre done.
2) Hormonal issues specially thyroid.
3) Lack of sleep.
4) Mental stress.
5) And drug which may cause lethargy like beta blocker, anti histamin , cough syrup.
6) Any systemic disease.

I would like your input about what possible cause among these you think it might be?

Regrads.

I seem to be getting plenty of rest. I am not stressed. I do take propanilal for high blood pressure but have taken this for years. I am not taking any cough syrup or an anti histamin. No other issues that I know of

I was told some time back that my thyroid was borderline so I have been wondering if it could be that.

Brief Answer:
Thyroid needs to be checked.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing back,

Propranolol can cause lethargy even if you are taking it for a long time though less but there are chances that it is causing this.

Main suspect in my opinion here can be thyroid you have to look into thyroid..you should visit your doctor and discuss about getting your thyroid work done. For BP control you can discuss other medication which have lessr side effects.

But for the time being your first step should be seeing your thyroid.

Dr.Muhammad Ahmad
