Question: My skin condition started XXXXXXX of last year. When the birds left the nest on my balcony I was infested with what seemed to be bird mites. A biopsy on my head showed seborreric dermatitis I still have sores and from my pores come invisible XXXXXXX type feel. Also there is a XXXXXXX coloured fine gritty paste substance. I'm using betaderm for my skin and ratio amcinonide for my scalp. Nothing seems to get rid of this problem which I assume started with the possible

I just uploaded two pictures of the problem I'm having. These are pictures of what comes out of my pores when I put the cream on the sore after I rub it in.

These two pictures the white specks were on my clothes and they would bite. The picture of my finger was something that was in my mouth. It wasn't food. I often find white things in my mouth. Not spots but things. Now when I wake in the morning I find that XXXXXXX coloured fine grainy paste in my mouth. This whole episode has been a nightmare.

Brief Answer:
Use the medications I have mentioned. Maintain hygiene. Be calm.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

1. The condition that you have developed, sebhorreic dermatitis, classically gives off yellow scabs as seen in the photographs that you have uploaded.
2. The steroid medication that you use is not sufficient, you need to use Ketaconazole and selenium for the primary treatment of the condition.
3. Medicated astringent shampoo such as coal tar formulations will get rid of the flakes.
4. Terbinafine, another antifungal agent topically applied gives a good response, along with sulfacetaminde.
5. Maintain perfect hygiene. Note that your illness is not contagious.
6. The reason, probably that you developed this problem, is that the birds nest must have contained a germ called "p. ovale" This is known to trigger off this condition in some people.
It will take a few weeks for it to subside, whereas, I agree that it has been a nightmare, it will get better, if the medications are used.

Thanks,
Dr. Neel Kudchadkar

Thank you so much. I will give this message to my doctor. I've just finished a round of chemo for non Hodgkin's lymphoma. I've been told by my oncologist that my resistance is low. That may be the reason I've enjoyed this problem immensely. No sarcasm there. I'm glad to know that there's help for me. My nightmare will finally be over. Many many thanks
Sincerely XXXXXXX
