Brief Answer:
It can be fungal infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi! Welcome to health care magic! Thanks for sharing your concerns with us. We will try to help you in best way possible. Based on the history you have shared, it can be due to intertrigo or local fungal infection like tinea. Though an assessment by his GP atleast if not a dermatologist should be made to rule out certain closely possible skin infections like dermatitis or psoriasis. The possibility of fungal infections is quite high because of excessive sweating or pressure effects leading to dampness which promotes fungal growths. Keeping the area dry manually or by using adsrobants alongwith topical anti fungal like meconazole or oral ones like itraconazole may help. Using anti histamines like cetrizine can help for itching while OTC analgesics like acetaminophen may help with the pain. Wishing him a quick recovery. Hope this has answered your query, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Regards.
