Question: Hi, we have a one week old baby who has some type of rash on his butt, image is attached, how can we get rid of it? Vaseline and desitil aren't helping

FYI he was born at 38 weeks through induction and had iugr and came out at 5 lbs....how much ml of 22ml enfacare formula and ml of breast milk should he be drinking ? There are some feeds he only drinks 20-25ml. Other symptoms are he is a bit warm but no fever, had circumcision, and his billiruben level was 10.8 after 5 days.

Brief Answer:
Diaper rash

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to this forum.
Can understand your concerns.

I have seen the picture that you have attached.

This is definitely diaper rash. In my opinion, you should apply zinc oxide cream like rashfree cream, ezinapi cream three times a day for 5 days. Don't apply any oil or powder. Decrease use of diaper.

If child is breastfeeding then top feed should be given only when breastfeeding is not sufficient. There is no definite amount but 1feed of 30 ml will be sufficient for baby with breastfeeding.

Baby temperature is a bit more than adult so temperature should be taken in armpit, if it's more than 100 F, then only we need to give antipyretic medicine.

Bilirubin levels are normal at this age.

I hope this helps.
Wishing your child good health.
Take care.
