Suggest Remedies For Rashes On The Arms And On The Face

Question: Hi sir/ma'am, i m XXXXXXX 25 years old, i delivered a baby girl three months ago. Baby is healthy and active, and i breastfeed her. I tried giving supplement baby formula such as lactogen and nestle nan-pro. However, in past 10-15 days, reddish/pinkish rash or boil kind of marks are appearing in the thighs, arms, and face (cheeks) of the baby. I consulted a paediatrician, he recommended to stop supplements, i stopped, but the rashes are persisting. I have a medical history of psoriasis, for which i took herbal medicines before marriage and it was almost cured. But now, mild itchings and rashes are appearing for me too, especially dandruff and heavy hairfall for me. My queries are:-
1. Whether my baby skin is getting affected bcaz of me breastfeeding her?, what should i do now?
2. Is it possible that my medical condition may get inherited to my baby through milk?
3. Can baby formula supplement cause any skin allergic reactions for baby?
4. Can i resort to herbal medicines now when i am breastfeeding my baby?
5. Should i follow any food restrictions, is it ok to have nuts, egg, fish, meat etc...
Kindly suggest me the right course of action.
Looking forward for early reply. Regards, XXXXXXX

Hello. XXXXXXX Thank you for writing to us

I am dr.kakkar (dermatologist).
I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.
I ll answer your last question first. Yes, you can have eggs, fish, nuts, meat etc. These are all protein rich food items and good for both of you and as such psoriasis requires no dietary restrictions.
Breast feeding is absolutely safe for the baby. Psoriasis has a genetic basis but only a small percentage of patients have a family history of psoriasis. So you should not get overly concerned.
Your dandruff could be a manifestation of psoriasis and you may use a mediicated shampoo for it, however it is quite common for lactating mothers to experience increased hair shedding after 1-3 months of delivery. This increased hair shedding can continue for 3-6 months. For dandruff you may use a medicated shampoo e.g protar lotion and use Ultitar CS lotion for overnight scalp application.
As far as rashes are concerned I request you to upload a few images in "Reports Section" so that I am able to guide you better. It is unlikely that the rashes are due to formula feed. Moreover since both of you have itching and rashes I would like to rule out scabies.

Brief Answer:
Regarding the rashes on skin

Detailed Answer:
Thank you.
I have viewed the images. I can see a few red, raised lesions.
Based on the history and the attached images I would keep a possibility of either scabies (family history of itching in other members) Or papular urticaria due to insect bite hypersensitivity.
I would suggest a single whole body overnight (at least 8 hrs) application of 5% permethrin cream e.g permite cream (for baby and yourselves) followed by bath next morning.
From next day onwards you may use a topical antiinflammatory cream e.g momate-F cream, twice daily, specifically over the lesions.
You may also take a tablet of cetrizine 10mg once daily in evening for symptomatic relief from itching and give syp phenergan 1.5 ml, twice daily to the baby.
