Brief Answer:
No need for immediate consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the query.

The swelling and the sensation of having a balloon full of water under the skin on your heel can occur due to fluid accumulation in the underlying bursa (bursitis).
This usually occurs due to inflammation of bursa , raised uric acid levels or variations in blood sugar levels.

I would have been in a better position to guide you if you could have posted a photograph of the swollen area. Also let me know the details of your past medical history like diabetes, hypertension or any major illness / surgeries in the past.

Till then, you can apply ice packs, keep the foot elevated over a pillow.

DO NOT APPLY ANYTHING WARM. HOT FOMENTATION IS STRICTLY CONTRAINDICATED.

Analgesics with fibrinolytic enzyme tablets like trypsin, chymotrypsin and serratiopeptidase will be helpful.

The pins and needles sensations can be overcomed by taking methylcobalamin and pregabalin tablets.

Get your CBC,blood sugar and uric acid levels checked.

I do not feel there is an immediate need to go to an ER.

Follow the above instructions for 3 days and let me know the improvement. If there is no significant relief from the symptoms after 3 days, then you can consult a doctor.

I hope the answer was useful.

Feel free to get back to me for any follow up queries.

Thank you.

Wish you a healthy life.

Brief Answer:
Get the advised investigations done

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have seen the attached photograph.

I feel that the swelling is secondary to some derangements in blood.

Please get the blood investigations that i had mentioned earlier done and let me know the results.

Varicose veins also can cause this kind of swollen heel.

Get a venous color doppler done.

I hope the answer was useful.

Thank you.
