Question: Hey dr,

I just have a question regarding my foreskin. So a bit of backstory so until around the start of this year I didn't actually know you could pull back your foreskin weirdly enough being 18 and all. After discovering this I had a few issues with even doing it when it was non erect because of how sensitive it was but after a while it became easier and easier until the point that I can now comfortably retract and clean my penis in the shower while not erect. Now my issue that I am having is that when I am fully erect I can only retract my foreskin just before where the glans are but any further results in it being tight. Is this normal or ok to have this? Is it something that will become looser over time and i'll be able retract it like I eventually could when it's not erect or do I need to do stretches or use steriod creams etc?

Kind Regards,
Daniel

Brief Answer:
Natural mechanism to sustain erection.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist i can understand your anxiety.

You've the normal, natural mechanism, during erection,in uncircumcised males.
The foreskin becomes tight around the head of the penis,to sustain the erection.
In the non-erect position, the foreskin is flaccid, hence fully retractable.

Maintain good penile hygiene and avoid moisture over the penis.
Wish you good health.

Oh that makes a lot more sense thank you for the clarification I was just really unsure about it. Another thing though if I were to use a condom when erect how far back should I pull the foreskin before putting it on?
