Suggest Remedies For Persistent Cough That Doesn't Get Better While On Amoxicillin And Tussionex
Get done PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Your wife is having chronic cough (cough for more than 2 weeks). And since chest x ray is normal, no need to worry about lung infections.
In my opinion, we should definitely rule out bronchitis (inflammation of airways) as a cause for her chronic cough. And allergy can also cause bronchitis. So better to consult pulmonologist for clinical examination of respiratory system and PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT will not only diagnose bronchitis but it will also tell you about severity of the disease and treatment is based on severity only. She will mostly improve with inhaled bronchodilators (Formoterol or Salmeterol) and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) (Budesonide or Fluticasone).
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
What about asthma?
Thanks for your help.
PFT will also tell you about asthma.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
PFT is needed for the diagnosis of both asthma and bronchitis.
Normal PFT almost always rules out asthma and bronchitis.
