Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
Hope this message finds you in good health.
I have gone through your complaints and understand your concern.
I generally see many cases like this at my clinic.most of them have a ligament injury or a small hairline fracture. we get an xray done to rule out any bony injury then treat accordingly.
In your son's case, though he does not have any swelling, there are chances of a small hairline fracture in his ring finger that is causing terrific pain. Children's bone are soft compared to adults,so generally they dont give swelling even after getting fractured.
I suggest you should get an xray of his hand immediately.

1. If he has fracture, the doctor will apply a plaster and give him rest.

2. If there is no fracture, a simple strapping of the finger, without plaster will do.
Till then you can give him ice packs, analgesics, splint.

do share his xray report with me. will be happy to help you

it takes generally 3- 4 weeks for the pain to go completely and get back to his routine work.
He should eventually get back to normal in coming few days.Nothing to worry about, as long as i am there to help you.
I hope your question has been answered.

Detailed Answer:
RECO PAIN IS A GOOD OPTION OR THERE ARE GELS LIKE VOLINI GEL AND SIMILAR.

HOT PACKS ARE GENERALLY USED WHEN THE PAIN IS OLD ONE AND NOT RELATED TO ANY TRAUMA- e.g- back pain, neck pain

ICE COLD PACKS ARE FOR TRAUMA INJURIES- e.g fall, sports injuries etc
