Suggest Remedies For Pain In Lower Left Chest

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Aug 2016
Question: Dr. Bhavsar,
My problem that we discussed was pain in my lower left chest cavity and I managed to get a thorough exam through the WV University/Berkeley Emergency Room that did all the major tests that you suggested and more and there is nothing life threatening.
But I still have pain issues, particularly late at night that start at 9pm across my back , sholder to sholder. XXXXXXX Forman
Yesterday was first training at the 'wellness center'. My chest pain did not occur after that, but let me be clearer. Schedule was:
1.Wake at 6:30 am, usually pain free.
2. Take 220- mg naproxen when chest cavity pain starts
3. 8pm second naproxen
4. 9pm, back pain begins
5. If I can't fall asleep with pain, 3rd naproxen at 1 am.

Is there anything I can do to lossen the tight back muscles- if that is the problem?
Is there a better over the counter pain killer?

Thank you, XXXXXXX Forman

The exercises were of 2 types
1. Cardio vascular (tread mill, rowing, bike) where you monitor your heart rate (80-120)
2. Muscle toning - all with weights(lift from shoulder to over head (it had a lot of chest activity), forearm, crunch, leg push-horizontal).

I asked the druggist at WalMart about muscle relaxent medicine and he said that they were prescription. But maybe I did not ask the proper question.

In my opinion, your pain is due to exercise and work out you are doing.

The only time I did the workout was yesterday, and it seemed to reduce my chest pain. For the past few months I have avoided doing specific exersizes and lifting hoping that 'rest' would be helpful.

But the question remains, are there over the counter muscle relaxants I can use?
