Posted on Wed, 15 Jun 2016
Question: Hi, My daughter just had her 14 week vaccination of pentavac PF... She has developed a lump in her leg...I am applying Thrombophob ointment. The lump has subsided but not gone completely. It's been a week today that she got the shot. She does not seem to have any pain in that site.Should I be concerned. The doctor has given oral antibiotics syrup Sporidex Redimix. Should I start with this? Or Wait for a week more?

Brief Answer:
Post Injection non-resolving Lump in the leg /Under Assessment for treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM about your daughters post vaccination lump at injection site.
Upon review of your query facts I found following health issues-to be studied-
Brief up on list of Your Health issues-
-Post-Injection Lump- after Pentavac PFS vaccine for 14 week dose.
-Unresolved, though thrombophobe oint was used
-and its week after now.no pains currently

My Impression-
Post Vaccination injection site lump is a normal occurring. Its week now and no pain at the injection site currently.
Means with thrombophobe oint application, the lump is on way to resolution.

Remedy Suggested-
In this scenario, I would suggest you -
to Cold compresses- with ice packs locally x 1 week
Continue Thrombophobe oint for 1-2 weeks more.
Wait for things to stabilize,in 2-3 weeks time.

Reply to your health concerns about your daughter-
Q-should I start Oral antibiotic -Sporidex Syrup
or Wait for a week more.?
Ans-
I hope in the given situation, this lump would resolve in another 2-3 weeks time.
Antibiotics needs to be used as stand by- only if redness /fever and pain increases with increase in lump size.
So don't use Sporidex antibiotic syrup and wait for 2-3 weeks by which time things will resolve on its own by bodies defenses.

Hope this reply would be helpful to your daughters health issue.
