default
Posted on Wed, 10 Aug 2016
Question: Hi, My armpits are very itchy and turning darker. This happened due to hot waxing. I tried everything from baking soda, oatmeal and vitamin E oil, but no use. Is it wise to try Betnovate C or any other suggestion, please?

Brief Answer:
Topical tretinoin better than Betnovate.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is important to assess how deeper the darkening is. If it is only the outer skin (epidermis) it can be treated with topical medications or applications. If it reached deeper skin called dermal skin, then it will take an year to resolve.

If it is one time hot waxing it is mostly superficial affecting epidermis, in such a case you should prefer Topical tretinoin up to 0.1% ( Brand RETINO-A ). First start with 0.025% RETINO-A at night thin application. In the morning use SUN BAN cream which is sunscreen. You should use both of them. Along with it you can use ENER-C 1000 tablet, one tablet a day for one month.

As the skin gets lighter you can use Betnovate.

However I strongly suggest a dermatologist consult to check the extent of damage.
