Brief Answer:
Suggestions on sleep pattern in new born babies & burping

Detailed Answer:
Hi...I understand your concern. Please note the points I am mentioning here under -

1. First of all I want you to understand that newborn babies of this age will be sleeping for 18 hours per day.

2. When they are in the womb, everything is dark for the babies. There will not be any light there. So the babies wouldn't be knowing day and night difference in the womb. After birth babies take sometime to accustom for this day time difference. This is called circadian rhythm.

3. Babies take sometimes 3-6 months or sometimes less or sometimes more. So do not worry.

Regarding burping -

1. Do not put the baby in lying position after feeding till the baby burps out the swallowed air.

2. If still crying - put the baby in prone position and keep patting the back gently so that the baby passes off the flatus and gets relieved.

Hope my answer was helpful for you. I am happy to help any time. Further clarifications and consultations on Health care magic are welcome. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish your kid good health.

Brief Answer:
Occasional cough without fast breathing is not bad

Detailed Answer:
Hi... occasional cough with out fast breathing or respiratory distress is not bad. That actually helps in clearing the respiratory secretions, please do not worry about it. Voice has changed probably due to excessive cry as you told. But the best treatment for it is voice rest which cannot be expected at this age. So I suggest you just leave it so that it will get better by it self. There are no specific Medications for it. Voice change need not be treated as such.
