Suggest Remedies For Difficulty In Sleeping

Question: I am having trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep. All of the sleep drugs I've looked at can only be used for one to two weeks or work like melatonin which I've taken and it hasn't helped. Is there any drug I can use all the time to address these sleep problems that doesn't work like melatonin?

First of all I do not think any drug should be used for all time as there are some side effects and risks associated with them. It is more important to find out the cause for sleep problem and get it treated. In addition adopting healthy sleep hygiene is of great importance as few of the individuals with sleep disturbance can be solely helped with simple sleep hygiene.

Regarding your question I feel Z drugs are safest option which can be used for longer time. The options include zolpidem, eszopiclone and zaleplon. These options are non habit forming and have little side effects and do not act on melatonin.
