Suggest Remedies For Diarrhea While On Flagyl

Question: I have just recently gotten an extended bout with diarrhea under control. It seemed to be mainly associated to food allergies and sensitivities. I am still having a problem with bleeding and sensitive gums. My dentist has recommended Flagyl to try and get rid of this longstanding problem with my gums. My concern is how Flagyl will affect my tendency toward diarrhea. Mine was so severe that my electrolytes were affected to the point that my NA was 129, Chloride and K were also very low. What is the percentage of people taking Flagyl actually suffer from diarrhea?

Hi,

Though diarrhea has been reported as a possible side effect, this is very very rare and an exact figure to the incidence not known. I will not recommend withholding this drug for fear of diarrhea. This is very much unlikely than not to cause any further diarrhea.
