Question: I have brittle nails in toes since last 4 months. From last 1 month Finger nails also seems to be affected. Some white coloured skin like growth is there in the side of nails.
2 months ago, I got a red spot on chest. I thought its a sun burn in summer and used prickly heat powder(Dermicool) for that. It got controlled but did not completely get cured.Once rainy season started, itching was there on the chest ans shoulder and
Last week got some red spots on chest and shoulder. some times pain is there on the spots(pricking). All symptoms seems to be fungal infection. Need your advice.

History on skin problems:
- 10 years back I had itching on head and tested the scalp. Result was hair root fungus. I took medicine for 2 months and then stopped. After that I have been taking head bath daily and use shampoo daily.I clean the comb also daily before use. These steps has been helping to control the itching. Not sure whether the hair root fungus is the cause for this.
-Got warts on neck and chest once and removed the wart as per dermatologist suggestion before 2 years

Note:
- I use bore water for drinking(after normal purification - No RO) and bathing.
- I use XXXXXXX sandal Gold soap and Head and shoulders shampoo regularly.

Brief Answer:
Biotin & moisturisers for nail, upload pictures of rash on chest & shoulder

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I have gone through your complaints.
Brittle nails can be due to frequent trauma to the nail or due to deficiency of certain nutrients.
You can take some supplements containing biotin for the nail for 4-5 months along with frequent and liberal use of moisturising cream on the hands and feet.
Besides this stay away from excess of soaps, detergents and chemicals.
Your rash on chest and shoulders can be due to prickly heat which is common in hot humid weather or due to fungal infection.
I would recommend you to upload the photographs of the affected areas so that can have a clearer picture of the condition and can guide you accordingly.

Brief Answer:
Spots on chest seems to be acne vulgaris

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic..
I have reviewed all the attached photographs.

The rash on the back seems to be acne vulgaris.
It is common in hot and humid weather in some individuals.

Try to stay in cool airy environment, wear loose cotton clothes, avoid applying coconut oil on these spots and avoid tight synthetic clothings.

Besides this I recommend my patients to take Capsule Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily along with tablet Levocetrizine 5 mg once or twice daily depending on the intensity of itching.

Also recommend them to apply Benzoyl Peroxide 10 percent cream on the spots twice daily.
These are prescription drugs and you need to see the doctor in person to get them.

The nails seem to affected due to some minor routine trauma .
Keep them moisturized and take supplements containing biotin.
This will help them.

I hope to have answered your query and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
