default
Posted on Thu, 14 Apr 2016
Question: M Son is 4 year old weighing 16.7 kgs. He often gets cough.. (mostly dry cough) once in two months lasting for more than a week. The cough increases in the night.
Doc has diagnosed this as allergic cough.
Have currently given antibiotic and has reduced.

I want to know what precautionary measures we could take to avoid it in the future.

Any natural immunity booster suggested?

Brief Answer:
You may take the following remedial measures

Detailed Answer:
Hi

I understand your concerns but don't worry. You may take the following measures to avoid future episodes:

-Try to identify the allergens to which he is sensitive such as dust, mites, pollens, smoke, food products etc. Avoid it as far as possible if identified.
- Give a glass of cardamom water twice daily. Its a natural immunity booster.
- Honey mixed with tulsi and cinnamon powder also helps in dry cough.
- You may start him on montelukast (4 mg 8 pm daily) if the episodes do not improve. It suppresses the release of inflammatory mediators in body which are responsible for such episodes.

Avoid use of antibiotics unless and until a bacterial infection is suspected.

Hopefully it will be of help.
Take care
