Brief Answer:
Management of acne, dandruff and hair fall

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at healthcaremagic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, a dermatologist.
Acne, dandruff and hair fall are all chronic problems which tend to persist for a long time and so treatment is continued for a longer duration.
For acne treatment depends on the severity of acne.
If it is mild I usually recommend my patients to use a salicylic acid facewash twice daily and apply adapelene 0.1 gel on the pimples at night.
In moderate to severe acne oral medications will also be required.
I would recommend you to upload the photographs of the affected areas so that I can grade your acne and can guide you accordingly.
Besides this avoid applying oily creams, keep your face dry, avoid oiling of scalp, reduce the intake of sugary foods and use cosmetics labelled as noncomedogenic.
For dandruff I usually recommend my patients to use a ketoconazole containing shampoo twice weekly along with a lotion containing a combination of beclomethasone and clotrimazole twice daily on the flaky and itchy areas of the scalp for 2-3 weeks.
Once the dandruff gets controlled I recommend them to discontinue the lotion but continue using the shampoo for many months as dandruff is a chronic problem.
Hair fall has many causes and treatment depends on the cause.
The most common causes encountered by me are male pattern baldness, fevers like typhoid and malaria, surgery, trauma, accidents, chronic diseases and certain medications, anemia and thyroid disorders.
Are you having thinning and loss of hair from the front region of the scalp and crown area as this occurs in male pattern baldness?
For this you need to start with minoxidil 5 percent lotion twice daily along with hair supplements like tablet androanagen once daily.
This needs to be continued for atleast 4-5 months to see any significant response.
I hope to have answered your queries and would be happy to clarify any further doubts.
Regards
Dr Asmeet
