Question: My two year old son drank eucalyptus oil in the afternoon today. He immediately spitted the oil. We immediately washed his mouth with water and also made him drink some water. After that my son also ate food and was active and playing. At night around 11.00 pm after drinking milk he vomited. So we are a bit worried. Please let us know if there is anything to worry

Brief Answer:
Unless any other untoward signs are seen you need not worry

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on Health care magic.

Eucalyptus oil has no definite poisoning symptoms or antidotes. However it can cause gastric irritation and that could lead to vomiting. Give him ORS (Oral rehydration solution) and observe him for other untoward signs. If nothing else happens you need not worry. Otherwise you can take him to a hospital for further evaluation and observation.
