Question: Hi! My 7.5 yr old daughter weighing 20 kgs is suffering from high fever for the last 2 days. Since yesterday we have given her Crocin DS (6ml) at 4.30 Am, then 9am, then Ibugesic syrup (100 mg, 10 ml) at 2.30 Pm , then 7 PM , again Crocin DS at 11 PM and then Ibugesic syrup again at 3 Am since her fever is in the range of 103-104 F . Our doctor had examined her day before yesterday and said that this is Viral fever and Crocin or Ibugesic syp can be given. this viral has happened even though we had got our child vaccinated with Fluvinac abt 15 days back. Kindly suggest what should we do to control the fever and many times a day or after how many hours can we give Crocin/ Ibugesic as she gets high fever even before 3-4 hrs of the medicine being given

Brief Answer:
Fever - suggested

Detailed Answer:
Hi....If your kid is normal in between fever episodes in a single day...I don't think you should worry as its only 3rd day of fever. Danger signs include breathlessness/ rash/ low urine output/ seizures/ unconsciousness/ blood in motion. Don't worry if these are not there & the kid is active.

Crocin can be given in the dose suggested by your pediatrician every 4-6th hourly, that too only if temperature is more than 100F

Ibuprofen can be given similarly every 8th hourly.

Do not give cold sponging or sponge bath with cold water.

Brief Answer:
Ibugesic Plus dose 10ml

Detailed Answer:
Hi....the dose of Ibugesic Plus for a kid weighing 20kg is 10ml every 6th hourly.

There is no specific guideline to say that suppository has to be given only at this temperature. But as such if the kid is able to take medicines or syrups orally, it us better to avoid suppository.

If your are giving Ibugesic Plus, please avoid giving XXXXXXX suppository too.
