Brief Answer:
Considerations.

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

There are many different medications that are used to help facilitate sleep. I think it is important to talk about this with your primary care doctor before using any medication whether it be a prescription or something you obtain over-the-counter.

As far as over-the-counter medications are concerned, Benadryl sometimes can work well for short period of time to help assist with sleep.

Your doctor might consider prescription medication such as Ambien which can also work well to help facilitate sleep.

At the same time it is important for you to look at things that can otherwise be disturbing your sleep including consumption of caffeine containing products which you would want to avoid. Also it's important that you try to reserve the time close to bedtime for relaxation and avoid significant stimulation including watching television, using computers.

thank you again for sending your question. Please talk to your primary care doctor about the best approach in your particular situation.

Sincerely,

Dr. Galamaga
