Suggest Medication For Sleeplessness In A Child With ASD
Question: I have a ten year old daughter who is ASD. I have tried appx 3 mg of melatonin for several weeks - she falls asleep but gets up around 12-4 and is up up up. Recently tried suntheanine in the after noon (50mg) then switched to pharma-gabba(50mg). I only tried these two a few days and i experienced the same result, up in the middle of the night wide awake. Last night in desperation tried melatonin again and it didn't work--how much melatonin should i give her or should i stick with the pharma-gabba? Very desperate here, and of courseshe is sleeping like a rock now at 7am XXXXXXX time! HELP

Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns for your daughter.
The use of these harbal products like pharmagaba and suntheanine in children is not well studied. I am not sure about their safety and efficacy in children.
As far as melatonin is concerned, you can her dose to 5mg if she is not sleeping well with 3mg. The safety of this dose of melatonin is well studied in children.
But please do keep your doctor informed about the dose changes.
Hope this helps.
I wish for speedy recovery of your daughter.
Regards.
