Suggest medication for sciatic nerve pain

Question: I have syatica nerve pain in curve of my lower back that never goes away. Ive received shots and the first one worked but none after, I was prescribed hydrocodone which helps, but the clinic is releasing me because I cant quit smoking. I don't know what to do.l

I find it unconscionable to discharge a patient because they can't stop smoking. I would call this abandonment to discharge a patient for smoking. Unless you have a health contract with the doctor stating that you would stop smoking he can't discharge you. He could discharge you if you had a pain contract and violated that contract.

If you have no other recourse with this doctor then I would report him to the State medical board for abandonment and look for a new doctor. You may need to see a chronic pain specialist to help with your back issues.
