Question: Hi,

I was having cold past since day before yesterday, suddenly I got fever yesterday evening. I took cheston cold testerday night and in morning but the fever comes back after every 9 hours. Fever is XXXXXXX 100 , no shivering only headache and weakness

I have gone through your query. Your problem can be most likely viral fever. Maximum fever will be there for 3 days usually. You can take paracetamol if fever or head ache is there. Don't exceed more than 2 g paracetamol in 24 hours. Usual dosage if maximum fever is there is 500 to 600 mg 6 hourly. You can also take antihistamines like cetirizine (zyrtec) or banadryl. Take warm fluids like tea with lemon and honey , warm soups like chicken soup with pepper. Taking chewable vitamin C is also good.

Do you have running nose or sore throat?
Do you have nasal congestion?
Do you have cough? Is cough with sputum? Colour of sputum?
After 3 days if fever continues take blood routine and platelet count to rule out viral fevers like haemorrhagic fever.
