Brief Answer:
Better to consult pulmonologist and get done PFT first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By his history and description, possibility of asthma is more.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system.
2. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
PFT is must for the diagnosis of asthma. It will also tell about severity of asthma. And treatment of asthma is based on severity only.
He may need additional inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
So consult pulmonologist and discuss all these.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Better to give him long acting beta 2 agonist.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your follow up question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Salbutamol is short acting beta 2 agonist (SABA).
It's action lasts for only 2 hours. So frequent dosing is required.
Better to start LABA (long acting beta 2 agonist) instead of SABA. LABA is having half life of 12 hours. So only twice daily dosing is required.
So discuss all these with your doctor and start accordingly.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.
Wishing good health to your brother. Thanks.
