Question: Hi i m 29 weeks pregnant... This is my first pregnancy . Yesterday my doctor checked my BP was 140/90..
My doctor said its high BP...which is not good.. Its really risky ?? It can be reduced ?? How it can effect my baby?
My doctor added two more tablets that is Susten 200 (in night) and Labetalot 100 mg (Morning and Night)...

other medicines which i was already taking are - Shelcal HD 12, ARG -9, Cheri Syrup , Mama's Protein powder and Threptin biscuits...

Is so many medicines is safe to take? How can i manage my BP? Before it i was always having low BP during pregnancy around 110/85.

Brief Answer:
Precautions advised

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for trusting health care magic.
I understand your anxiety related to the excessive medicines prescribed and concern for future risks and possibilities.
Yes 140/90 is a high blood pressure and will eventually increase more with advancing pregnancy.
Yes you will need labetalol as advised along with susten which helps in maintaining placental circulation and controls blood pressure too.
She can skip arg-9, threptin biscuits and protein powder alternately which can decrease medicine load.
But shelcal, Cheri syrup, labetalol and susten should be taken daily.
Susten tablet can be replaced by vaginal pessary which has similar efficiency and will decrease number of oral medication.
In general she should take less of salt daily and keep a note of fetal movements.
Visit your gynecologist at regular intervals.
All the best.
