Question: Hello! I wanted to ask for something that I have noticed recently. My husband has had some problems with colesterol and has hypertension, this is the cause he takes pills to low bloody pressure. From one month he measures the body temperature and it is as low as 53.2-53.5. Is this a normal persistant body temperature? Should he consult a doctor or do some analysis? Thank you!

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern could you please specify if it is 53 degree Fahrenheit or celcius?

I would recommend checking your body thermometer if it is OK first.

Then I would recommend consulting with his family physician and perform some blood lab tests ( complete blood count, thyroid hormone levels, PCR, sedimentation rate).

His body temperature is not related to high blood pressure or dyslipidemia and is not related to any medical adverse effects.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards,

Thank you for your prompt answer! When I meant 35.2 I meant centigrade. He has done the thyroid check up and resulted everything ok, he has also done all the blood formula which showed that everything was ok. While measuring the body temperature he used different types of thermometer which showed the same results. Generally is this kind of body temperature linked with different types of desease? Thank you again!

I would recommend as follows:

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Thank you for the additional information!

I would like to know if he has any symptoms like : constipation, mood changes, sleeping problems, etc.?

A low body temperature may be an indicator of a low metabolism.

I would recommend some modifications in his lifestyle which would be helpful:

- diet modifications: eat a balanced diet in fat, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins and electrolytes.
- perform a lot of physical activity (walking, aerobics, jogging, etc.)
- regulate the sleeping regime (try to avoid sleep deprivation and have a good sleep).

I would also recommend performing cortisol plasma levels to examine his adrenal glands function.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Greetings!
