Brief Answer:
Cause for low Hb need to be evaluated.

Detailed Answer:
Low hemoglobin level especially in male needs evaluation.
In diabetics there may be diabetic nephropathy which may lead to low hemoglobin level.
For which I may suggest to do following blood tests-
- Complete Blood Count with Peripheral smear.
- Renal Function Test including Urea, Creatinine, Electrolytes, Uric acid.
- Liver Function test.
- Urine examination.
- Stool for occult blood.

Depending upon detailed clinical examination and above test results further investigations may be suggested like-
- Vitamin B12 Level.
- Iron Profile (serum Iron, TIBC, Ferritine, % saturation)
- Ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis

Some time depending upon clinical examination and detailed history clinician may suggest Vitamin B12 and/or Iron supplements.

Hope this helps you.
