Thanks for your query.

Gingivitis most commonly occurs due to accumulation of the plaques followed by bacterial infection.Gingivitis due to any other cause gets worsened due to secondary bacterial infections.

The best remedy would be to wash mouth with an antiseptic solution.CHLORHEXIDINE (Peridex) is the best amongst. This done twice daily after food will surely halt the progress on infection and help in recovery. A very soft bristle tooth brush (as soft as the pulp of finger) reduce the bleeding associated with gingivitis.

I will also advice you some home remedies which help to recover from gingivitis.DO follow any of the below along with mouth washes with chlorhexidine.
1)Washing mouth with water boiled with cinnamon and clove twice daily.
2) Rub your gums with clove oil or you can also keep one or clove in your mouth.
3)Cranberry juice taken twice daily can help prevent gingivitis. This keeping bacteria from sticking to the gums.
4)Apply paste made with water and baking soda along your gumline.

Hope I answered your query. Please do ask if you have any doubts.
