Balanced low fat low calorie Diet with light exercises

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,

Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

The best and most effective way to get rid of excessive body fat is a combination of low fat and low calorie diet with exercises.
let us talk about the diet first.

Cut down on calories and add necessary fillers like insoluble fibres to add bulk to the diet, you may include whole grains, fresh whole fruits, raw salads and vegetable preparations. This helps in attaining satiety while consuming lesser calories. Restrict the intake of refined foods like those made with refined wheat flour. Avoid sugar wherever possible. Making way for the good protein sources like legumes, dals, milk and its products and soy in the diet also helps in cutting down the calorie intake. Protein rich foods delays the digestion time and one dos not feel hungry soon.

Also, you must choose the fats wisely. Limit the intake of oil and avoid the fried foods and snacks. Drink plenty of water and other healthy drinks to keep up the metabolism. You may also include options like green tea and lemon tea. Buttermilk and tender coconut water are also good options.

One simple trick that actually helps is taking a glass of lukewarm water with lemon and 1 tbsp. aloe vera gel in the morning rite after you wake up. For better results try having 5 crushed garlic cloves with plain water (like tablets) after taking the aloe vera gel drink.

As mentioned above, in addition to the dietary modifications, exercises are equally important. If you are not doing any exercises at present then start with a light walk for 10- 15 minutes and gradually increase the duration or speed at a comfortable pace. Vigorous exercises would not be possible because of Vit D and calcium deficiencies as it may aggravate the pain / discomfort. Your physiotherapist and doctors would be able to advise you on the type of exercises that you may take up and continue in addition to walk. Remember that bone health improves with balanced diet and rite type of exercises.

Include mushroom, Vit D fortified foods like orange juice and soy milk, low fat dairy products, green leafy vegetables, corn flakes, nuts, dried peas, sprouts and broccoli to get your daily dose of Vit D and Calcium. Continue the supplements as prescribed by your doctor.

Always check the food labels and prefer buying the foods that are calcium and Vit D fortified, over the non-fortified ones.

A sensible exposure to Sun is also important to get Vit D as Our body synthases it under the sunlight. Since your wife has allergy to harsh sun, make sure that she get the exposure to sun rays in the morning hours and for small but frequent duration.

Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask further questions regarding the diet.
