Brief Answer:
Folic acid recommendation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. The recommended intake of folic acid in preconceptional period in a normal healthy female is 400 micrograms per day from three months preconceptionally and has to be continued for first three months of pregnancy.
However, for anyone taking antiepileptic drug, history of previous neural tube defects, diabetes mellitus has to take a dose of 4 mg a day.
But the folic acid tablet comes in dose of 5 mg and is usually prescribed to all, and is completely safe. It comes under various brand names like folvite, folgel, Biopreg F.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
Regards,
Dr Deepti Verma

Thanks Doctor! I had a case of complication in my first pregnancy which ended in miscarriage. And I am a hypothyroid, hence want to take a good folic acid tablet. Please suggest a particular brand and right dosage for me.

Brief Answer:
Adopt a healthy lifestyle

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX working women do have a lot to deal with, however one should keep a balance among work, rest and responsibilities. Eating healthy diet and adequate sleep are key to good health in a working female.
You can take multivitamins like becadexamine, becasoule, etc once a day. However, you should focus more on a healthy lifestyle rather than depending on these multivitamins.
Hope you found the answer helpful. Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
