Suggest Effective Alternative To Migranil For Migraine During Pregnancy

Question: I have migraine from almost 10 years ... I m taking migranil daily from almost 3 years .. now I m conceived. . Would like to know does taking this tablet has any side effects or risk on my pregnency ... wat cud be the alternative for this ... I m not able to bear with pain right now

I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.

Migranil must be stopped during the Pregnancy as it can lead to severe fetal malformations.
About 80% cases of migraine are known to improve by themselves in Pregnancy,without any medication.In the remaining cases,Ergot derivatives(Migranil) and Triptans must not be given.If the medicines are to be given anyway,acetaminophen and opioid medicines should be judiciously used.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX I have not taken yesterday night bcz of which I have unbearable pain due to migraine attack from night ... not even able to sleep. It is increasing like anything as time is passing on. Please suggest wat to do.

You can take Acetaminophen(Paracetamol) or Prochlorperazine(Stemetil) as these two are effective against migraine and relatively safe in pregnancy.
