Question: I am a mtf transgender.

My dosage includes the fallowing

I have thought about going back to estriol depot injections but before hand I was on only 2cc every 2 weeks.

Brief Answer:
I do not see anything seriously wrong with your regimen

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know I am here to help. I would like you to know what the usual dosages are for the given medications you have mentioned:

+Spironolactone: Usually 100-200 mg per day, taken orally
+Medroxyprogesterone: 5-10 mg taken orally once daily, or 150 mg taken intramuscularly once a month
+Finisteride: 6 mg (divided into two dosages)
+Estradiol:
a. Ethinyl estradiol: 100 micrograms per day taken orally
b. 17-beta estradiol: Starts off with 2-4 mg per day taken orally, but then escalated to 6-8 mg and then even 10 mg per day orally
c. Estriol: 4-6 mg taken orally daily
d. Conjugated estrogens: 5-10 mg daily

I do not see anything seriously wrong with your dosages and so if at all you do not see any results you can discuss a few other factors like lifestyle changes, surgical manipulation and so on with your doctor; but I would also like to request you to be little more patient and not pressurise your doctor to increase your dosages as that can result in some serious health issues. Please do understand.

Please also feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Hope this helps, but only your personal physician knows best

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

Actually many doctors are of contradicting opinions when it comes to choosing between injectables and oral tablets. Some doctor believe that injectables last for a longer duration of time in the body but carry more side effects; whereas another group of doctors believe that daily oral tablets help provide a stable level of the hormones.

As you have been on oral tablets for quite some time, why don't you give the injectables a shot, but please also be patient. Measure your breasts once every 2-3 weeks to look for changes, but in majority of cases not much growth can be achieved, and from what I have seen most opt for implants due to the same reason.

I have observed a commonly used regimen by doctors who specialise in transformations, you could discuss it with your doctor:

+First 30 days: 5 mg conjugated estrogens (e.g. premarin) per day + 200 mg spironolactone (e.g. aldactone) per day
+Next 30 days: Conjugated oestrogen's same dose or can be increased from 5 to 10 mg + 300 mg spirinolactone per day
+Next 30 days: Conjugated estrogens same dose or can be increased from 5 to 10 mg + spirinolactone same dose + medroxyprogesterone (e.g. provera) 10 mg per day

Please discuss a regimen with your doctor as I still say he/she would now what would be best for you.

Best wishes.

Brief Answer:
Try oral supplements for another month, then injectables if required

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

I would like to add that the transformation and the drugs used have a different effect on different individuals at times, but as you have tried the injectables previously and felt they did not do much for you then I am not sure it will help you much.

But if you are willing to give it another try then I would not like to vote against it, although the dosage cannot be raised at this juncture so please be patient if you do chose to go ahead with the injectables.

In conclusion, I would advise staying on the oral supplements for another month or so; and if you are not satisfied with the results then consider the injectables once again.

Best wishes.
