Suggest Dosage For Remicade
Question: (Remicade) questions regarding this medication: If I am to start this med and it is to be given
to start on day 1, day8 and day 23. then every eight weeks. Is there certain dosage sizes they generally start with for Psoriatic arthritis? Can you have surgery like cateracts while on this med? What eye problems can happen with this med? Will I have to be careful in the sun while on this med? Will I have to be careful when I am around sick people, or children with colds ect.?
does this problem cause your toe nails to grow in strange shapes and real thick? I forgot to ask that above.

Guess, I have got your question again. Incase you want to get it changed, you can do that as well. I ll try to answer till my best knowledge which could satisfy your queries
1. Firstly for the dosing of Remicade: We normally dont use it so frequent. Even the guidelines suggest to use it at 0 and then 2 weeks and then 6 weeks. In XXXXXXX we use it at every 2 months cause of high incidence of tuberculosis. And the results have been good so far. We normally never repeat it before 6 weeks at least, as the action of Infliximab takes at least 14 days to kick off. So whether it is having any benefit on you or not, we wont know within the first week. And if it doesnt have a benefit there is no point of repeating it.( All biological drugs have 70 % success and 30 % failure)
2. Cataract is a local surgery which can be undertaken while on Inflixmab. But preferably go for the surgery at least 3 weeks after the infusion and 3 weeks before the next one, so you get adequate time for healing without having to worry about the risk of infections.
3. Infliximab does not cause eye problems, rather it is a recommended drug for eye problems due to Psoriasis( Uveitis)
4. As such, sun you dont need to avoid. There are no contraindications to avoid sun exposure. But yes, you have to be careful around people who are having cold as you can inquire the infections a bit early. So if your doctor does have time before starting it, taking vaccination for common cold is always beneficial. But you will have to wait for 2 weeks before starting infliximab.
5. Psoriasis can cause toe nails to grow in different shapes and cause deformities. Which will get better with infliximab.
