Generally in cases of irritant dermatitis I recommend use of topical corticosteroid for 7-10 days depening on the severity.
Since your clinical condition is improving with 3 day treatment of desonide and Alokem gel, its a positive sign of resolution.
I would suggest that you use desonide lotion twice a day and on top of desonide lotion apply aloe vera gel. Twice a day application will hasten your resolution.
Overall I would suggest application of desonide for 7-10 days.
