Brief Answer:
Needs weaning foods not lactogen or nan

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing to us.
You had mentioned that your baby weight was 1000 grams at birth.
At 5 months 2500 is within normal pattern of growth.
Don't worry.
Babies with low birth weight take upto four years to catch up with their normal birth weight babies.
Neither lactogen nor nan can give more than the required energy for the baby compared to breast milk at this age.
Mother feeding should be adequate for the baby.
Once six months over you can start soft liquid weaning foods like rice gruel or cerelac or nestum rice.
Boiled vegetables and boiled apple too can be started.
Mother should ensure high protein diet with plenty of liquids and milk.
It is advisable and better health wise that low birth weight babies gain weight gradually.
Latest studies have shown that excessive nutrition to gain weight faster can be harmful in the long run causing cardiac problems in adult life.
Wishing your baby good health.

Brief Answer:
placental insufficiency

Detailed Answer:
The dates mentioned by you correspond to 35 weeks - preterm at which ideal weight should have been around 2kg.
Placental insufficiency due to maternal factors can cause low weight gain if infections are ruled out.
Enquire with your osbstetrician about known or unkown maternal factors.
Many times there is unexplained plcental insufficiency, which cannot be treated
