Brief Answer:
Light breakfast is advised before surgery.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to Health care Magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I will be answering your question.

I reviewed your history.
It seems from the history that your father is scheduled for cataract surgery tomorrow morning.
Cataract surgery has undergone plenty of advancement and has become one of the relatively simple, quick procedure. As modern cataract surgery is done under topical anesthesia no diet restrictions are required.
Hence no more special precautions and hospitalization which were required in the past have almost disappeared.

Patients posted for cataract surgery are usually advised to take light breakfast avoiding spicy and oily food.
I usually tell my patients to have light breakfast in the form of idly......

Postoperatively the patients can take there usual diet.
Head bath needs to be avoided for 2 weeks.
Postoperative medications need to be used as advised by your doctor, I advice to use antibiotic steroid eye drops for 6 weeks with 8 times per day in first week and tapering to 2 times per day in the 6 the week.

Hope the information is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Wishing good health and speedy recovery to your father.

Thank you
With regards
