Brief Answer:
Weight, blood pressure, blood chemistry and full blood count.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Blood tests needed before hemodialysis are:

1. Hemoglobin (Hb) level
2. Hematocrit (Hct) ( the percentage of blood that is made up of erythrocytes )
3. Albumin level ( it shows nutrition levels and keeps the osmolarity of blood within normal values )
4. Iron level
5. Blood electrolytes levels (especially phosphorus, potassium and calcium levels)
6. Blood urea nitrogen ( BUN)
7. Creatinine level
8. Parathyroid hormone levels
9. Bicarbonate levels.

Also weight and blood pressure are monitored closely before, during and after hemodialysis.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

What is a hepatitis panel??
doctor
Answered by Dr. Dr. Erion Spaho (12 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
Assesses the liver viral infection.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

Hepatitis panel is a number of tests done to evaluate viral liver infection.

These tests include liver function tests (liver enzymes in blood) and antibodies against viruses that may affect the liver (A,B,C,D,).

In patients undergoing dialysis, there is possibility of infection with hepatitis B virus (HBV) due to use of hemodialysis systems and apparatus by different patients.

If no history of hepatitis B infection, or elevated liver enzymes in blood, this test is done after the starting of dialysis when infection is suspected.

Hope I've been of help.

Best regards.
