Suggest Better Medication For Depression Other Than SSRI

Question: I am suffering from depression,cannot take an anti-depressant that is an SSRI. Any suggestions?

I am so sorry to hear about this difficulty getting the right medications for your depression. Beside SSRI, there are many other medications for depression including the tricyclic antidepressants of which amitryptylline is part of.

Wellbutrin usually requires an average of 4-6weeks before we can declare whether it works well or not. If you have not taken it for up to this duration, I will recommend you stick to it and give it time to kick into full action before we start to say it is not working for you.

I f you have taken for sufficient time and we are not getting any better results, then I will suggest your doctor starts the other classes of medications.
