Suggest Ayurvedic Treatment For Pain And Stiffness In Joints

default
Posted on Mon, 19 Dec 2016
Question: Dear Doctor, I have gone through quite a lot of stress in the last couple of months. In the last three weeks I have woken feeling very stiff and achy in the joints and it feels as if I am walking underwater (ie difficult). I also have an annoying feeling in the lungs as if I want to cough but I don't actually cough - they feel sort of inflamed as well - this is just sometimes, not all the time. I get breathless easily with exercise and I feel generally fatigued and demotivated.

I bought a glucose monitor, just out of interest, but my fasting level first thing in the morning is usually 5.8 but it has been 6.5 and 7.3 in the last week. A couple of times it was 5.4.

Standard blood tests all are normal - no inflammatory markers. Menopause was 10 years ago.

I came off Stillnox about three weeks ago and reduced Oxazepam from 7.5 mg to 3.75 mg about two weeks ago. Thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Ayurveda Management & Approach

Detailed Answer:
Dear
Thanks for contacting Ayurveda with your health approach and after reviewing your case history I'm of the following opinion:

1. Considering Age [50] and menopause: as there is drop in estrogen hormone which increases the risk of heart conditions thus check with a Cardiologist for high blood pressure and are more likely to become prediabetic and diabetic.

2. since there is/are feature of dyspnea on exertion with fatigue thus heart disease should be excluded along with any other Interstitial Lung Disease [ILD]

3. All the above listed symptoms could be due to decrease in estrogen or due to presence of other contributory factors which needs to be evaluated [after menopause] like: cortisol level, thyroid function test, hormonal profile, serum electrolytes and till then one can manage the pathology on the basis of GAD [generalised Anxiety Disorder] and later one may change to hormone Replacement Therapy [HRT] or Systemic Management:

i. Avoid: alcohol, pepper, garam masala, mustard oil, pickles, rye, spicy food, anger, grief, fear, late night waking, garlic, ginger, onion, mental exertion, sun exposure, corrylium, smoking, errhine therapy, betel leaves, gruel, soup, day time sleeping, spicy-heavy- junk food, mustard oil, pickles.

. Take: mint, coriander, tomato, and cumin, plenty of water, vitamins and mineral supplements, apple, banana, grapes, dates

. Lemon juice mixed with sugar in a glass of water helps release stress removing hormones from the body and bring mind at peace/rest.
. Apple, almond, banana, broccoli, cantaloupe, melon, carrot, cashew nut, corn, cauliflower, grapes, guava, lemon, XXXXXXX orange, pineapple, soybean, spinach have anti oxidant and detoxifying properties so take them in plenty.

. Prescription drugs and procedures available for your problems are: sarpagandha, khus, jatamansi, bramhi, kevada, vacha, tagar, amla, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX ras, mahakalyanak ghrita, manasmitra vatkam, XXXXXXX vati, mann XXXXXXX vati,Ashwagandharishta, sarasvatarishta, stresscom, nasya karma
