Suggest An Ideal Diet Plan For A Patient Suffering From Hypothyroidism

default
Posted on Tue, 12 Apr 2016
Question: Hello

I am a 28 year old female, diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 24 (with PCOD) and been suffering with asthma since childhood. I am on seroflo 250 for asthma and Thyronorm 100mcg for hypothyroidism. A few months ago I was a 103 kgs ( 5'11) but since I am a field biologist I guess all the exercise helped me bring it down around a 100 and and since I am around 100kgs. I exercise every day (except during my periods as it is very uncomfortable). I go for long brisk walks and stretch, squat and do abs. I am extremely flexible but somehow been unsuccessful with my weight.

I am south XXXXXXX and prefer south XXXXXXX cuisine. I have three dosas or 4 idlis in the morning. A cup and a half rice with vegetables and few small pieces of mutton(some days) and three idlis or 3 dosas for supper. I do not snack in between and have lots of water. Fruits are a big part of my diet and mostly are my in-between munchies. My only addiction is caffeine which I have now brought down to two small cups (south-indian filter coffee size) each day. Sometimes I have an extra, small helping of chai.

I own an orbitrak elliptical and have no idea how long i work on that.

Kindly help me with a good diet and exercise regime.

Thank you Doc.

After my last consultation with a new Gynac for my weight, she suggested I 'could' try weight loss medications. I did not really go for that but then thought I could try Ayur Slim from Himalaya?

Is it any good? How does that sit with your prescriptions?

Brief Answer:
Ayurvedic slimming medication

Detailed Answer:
Ayur Slim is an ayurvedic preparation and contain herbs which reduces appetite and food craving. It also claims to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels but mechanism of action is uncertain.
Ayur Slim has not been recommended by any standard text-book of Medicine. However ayurvedic drugs do work and there is no reason that it won't be compatible with reducing diet.
Consult an Ayurvedic practitioner before embarking on a particular preparation.

Thank you Doc. I understand I still have one question.

I have this absurd pimple bouts all over my face. For no apparent reason. I was under great stress for a few years due to my job and during those times my face grew considerably darker and I had ugly pimples. Now I quit my job and am back home. My skin has regained its usual brown color but these pimples are still around. Sometimes they spread like wild fire around the face and down the chin and neck. Are there any natural solutions (considering my medical history of hypothyroidism and steroids for asthma) to it cause I know no pimple cream works.

Thank you.

Brief Answer:
Obstinate pimples and natural cure

Detailed Answer:
Fresh garlic clove pieces can be rubbed on the pimples and left for five minutes before washing the skin with lukewarm water.
Repeat the treatment 2-3 times a day. This is one of the many home remedies for pimple and non-pharmocological.
