Brief Answer:
List of substitute medications as requested ma'am

Detailed Answer:
Hello ma'am and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help you in the best way I possibly can. If what I understood from your query was right, you are seeking alternative medications for your osteoporosis. Please write back to me if at all I am wrong and did not understand you well enough.

Bisphosphonates are the best medications for treating osteoporosis, but it seems as though you are unhappy with them for some reason. You were on aclasta (with the active ingredient zoledronic acid), but there are other bisphosphonates as well whoch you would be interested in trying, like:

+Risedronate
+Alendronate
+Ibandronate

Please discuss this with your doctor if at all you are interested in trying other bisphosphonates.

If at all you do not wish to use bisphosphonates at all, the next best option is hormonal therapy. This would particularly be beneficial in your case as hormones are either deficient or completely absent in menopausal women and can help by treating osteoporosis as well as suppressing symptoms of menopause, and so on. Example: raloxifene.

In individuals who cannot tolerate or take bisphosphonates for some reason, the drug denosumab is indicated. Please speak to your doctor if at all you are interested in this medication. It also helps in preventing fractures in individuals with osteoporosis who are prone to fractures.

As you mentioned low bone density, I would recommend the addition of teriparatide as well which works well to increase bone density.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications, I would be more than happy to help you further ma'am.

Best wishes.

Dear doctor! Thank You for info.regarding alternative med. in curing osteoporosis.
I did not start yet any treatment .Right now I am during healing of fractured left hip and total replacement surgery(done 30 Sept2014)). I am thinking that proper treatment of osteoporosis will start in next year -in January ,2015., but I have to make decision in regards proper for myself treatment -choosing alternative medication or Bisphosphonates drugs? My diagnose "Collagenous Collitis" (many years ago)and recent infection of my intenstinall tract
with Clostridium difficile Toxigenic are possible contraindicated for oral medications
My experiencing diarrhea usually has been explain to me by unstable Thyroid..
..
Rx.for Aclasta I received already , has to be jest arranged appointment in hospital for injection.Last Exam.BD/Bone Density revealed moderate risk of fracture (from Sept.)Summary after treatment of cancer bone density decrease about 36 % .
I know that treatment of osteoporosis has to start as soon as possible to prevent
further fracture. My lack of confidence started after not successful surgeries my
eyes -unexpected complication with healing eyes after removing cataracts.
Thank you again for your message

Brief Answer:
I understand, but urge you ti initiate Rx

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dr. XXXXXXX XXXXXX

As you mentioned, treatment for osteoporosis needs to begin at the earliest. Not only this, but conditions like microscopic colitis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, collagenous colitis, etc; have all exhibited signs of increased bone absorption resulting in lowering of bone density.

That being said, it is important to note that your osteoporosis will get worse at a rate slightly higher than other osteoporotic patients due to your colitis.

Injectable bisphosphonates are a good option and should be considered. You could initiate a course and see how you respond, and if you feel fine after the short course, a more permanent one can be initiated. I understand how you have lost faith and confidence in some therapies, but please understand that not all therapy is ineffective, and your experience should not be repeated.

I wish you lots and lots of luck Dr. XXXXXXX and hope you experience a conplete and rapid recovery from surgery. Please do not hesitate to write back to me anytime and for anything, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
