Suggest Alternate Over-the-counter Pill For Lexapro

Question: I NEED to know the difference between brand name Lexapro (20) and generic equivalent. The price is rising out of my range, I am AFRAID of trying generic. I do not want to end up at the mental hospital again. My family, within a year, ends up back on the brand name medication, again. My insurance company has been charging me $239.00 a month, which 5 years ago was only $32 a month. I found out, through my insurance company, that I was being penalized for using a brand name Lexapro. I need to know WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?????

Brief Answer:
They are exactly the same.

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

These drugs are exactly the same. the only difference lies in the fact that one(brand) belongs to renown pharmaceutical companies as opposed to the generics which are exactly the same. What makes the huge difference in price is the prestige attached to branded products and nothing to do with the active principle. To me, go with the generic if you are financially down and results would be the same. There is no reason to fear relapse because of switching.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more informationand clarifications if need be.

I've been told that the two (brand & generic) have different binders. What are binders?? What are the differences in the binders?? What is in the two (B & G) binders?? Brand is time release through out the day. Generic has a reputation of NO time release as well as dumping the system with meds. towards the end of the day. If they're the same, why are people complaining? that generics don't seem to work?

Brief Answer:
IT is the same like people prefer branded products!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

It is true that brand will always be regarded as better. However, they are supposed to be exactly the same with no differences. I will say it again and again that this is the prescribed quality. There is no difference in the active ingredient and their mechanism of action.

It is difficult to tell clients this because branded drugs always receive an extra packaging attention. Psychology is a major player in treatment and I have no doubt that clients might prefer branded drugs over generics.

I hope this helps. I wish you well.
