Question: What is an alternative to concerta for a 12 year old boy?
I am trying to learn more on behalf of my mother who has custody of her great-grandson.

Is it true that these medications effect children differently than adults? I take adderall 40mg. I'm 56, healthy with absolutely no focus. I took one of his Concerta (not sure of dosage) because he seems to be having too many side effects. I know I'm not supposed to but I wasn't sure a child could express how he feels. I wanted to know what he may be experiencing. The awful effect on me is what's prompting my questions. I would never want to be on Concerta.

No, these medications affect adults MUCH differently than children. I strongly recommend not taking his Concerta anymore. The way your child experiences it is not at all how you experience it.
